User Meeting: exploring external data integration

A few months ago, we organized our very first User Meeting about EthoVision XT and external data integration! The meeting included interesting talks, discussions, and demonstrations with a diverse group of participants.

On the 20th of May we had our very first User Meeting about EthoVision XT and external data integration! The meeting was held in the heart of the DACH region (which consists of Germany, Austria, and Switzerland) in Augsburg, Germany. This way, it was accessible for a broad base of neurosciencists.

Augsburg

Over 2000 years old, Augsburg is one of Germany’s oldest cities. It’s known for its varied architecture and beautiful medieval buildings. Luckily, we had a chance to see some of the sights!

We had lunch at the “Bayerisches Haus am Dom,” a restaurant where we were told the abbess and nuns of cloister “Oberschönenfeld” dined as well. The restaurant’s location also took us close to the Augsburg Cathedral, a Roman Catholic church founded in the 11th century.

The meeting itself took place at the Hotel Augusta, a superior venue with modern conferencing facilities.

Multimodal research

We organized the User Meeting to connect with other researchers and discuss the possibilities of multimodal research. Specifically, we explored how EthoVision XT could be used to connect different types of data with behavioral measurements. This topic inspired a range of interesting subjects to include in talks, discussions, and workshops.

For example, we discussed how EthoVision XT could be combined with PhenoTyper, Inscopix, and Neurolinx. We were happy to get feedback from professionals who integrated electrophysiology data, calcium imaging, audio data, and many more.

We also learned about new possibilities with upcoming products for multiple animals video tracking and system integration.

Connect & discuss

The meeting attracted a diverse and interested group of people. Participants ranged from students to professors, and included professionals from fields like pharmacology and cell biology. They worked with different animal species, including fish, rodents, pigs, and insects.

After the presentations, we started our Atelier Workshop, consisting of different discussion groups and demonstrations. Subjects included physiological data integration, social interaction measurements, synchronization of vocal and behavioral data, and track editing in a three chamber system.

Will we see you next time?

The User Meeting was very successful and inspired several new topics for the next meeting to be organized.

We would like to thank everyone who contributed or participated, and we hope to see you (again) next time!
