The Social Media Lab in Mons, Belgium brings together researchers, students, professionals, and professors from different disciplines (communication, marketing, journalism, computer science, etc.). Together they try to understand the digital world, train themselves in the use of new technology, and learn more and advice about new professional practices.
The Social Media Lab is more than just a research program — it is a physical space equipped with state-of-the-art technology. It offers a collaborative environment where businesses can work on the co-design, testing, and improvement of their interactive systems, products, or services. Thanks to this infrastructure, the lab also enables testing of how users adopt and interact with new technologies, including innovative interfaces.
User Experience Lab / Social Media Lab components
The lab combines advanced tools and software with modular, functional, and adaptable furniture to create a highly flexible research environment. This setup supports a wide range of studies, such as evaluating media literacy skills or analyzing user behavior in various contexts — for example, observing how consumers navigate a website.
