If you are working in HCI or UX, you are probably familiar with CHI. This conference - pronounced ‘kai’ - is organized every year by the international society for Human-Computer Interaction, SIGCHI. Why you should attend this year's CHI 2019?
Everyone working in human-computer interaction, human-machine interaction, or user experience is most likely familiar with the CHI conferences. These international meetings are organized every year and include all aspects of HCI.
Researchers, practitioners, designers, educators, students, there is probably something to find and learn at CHI for everyone. And that's just one of the reasons why you should attend CHI 2019!
1. Premier international conference on HCI
The ACM CHI Conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems is the premier international conference of Human-Computer Interaction.
At CHI 2019, many of the world’s top researchers, scientists and designers will come together to present the future of interactive technology. An easy way to get up-to-date on the latest news and trends in the field. And all the more reason not to miss this conference!

2. Fáilte (Welcome) in Glasgow!
This year's CHI meeting takes place in Glasgow, the second largest city of Scotland. It is the first time the conference is organized in the UK.
Although the conference program is fully packed, you should definitely consider taking some time to explore the city. And don't forget to mingle with the Glaswegians!
If you don't have a lot of spare time, there's still opportunities to go around town. There will be a reception at the Glasgow Science Centre on Wednesday evening, thanks to the City of Glasgow.
3. Meet your peers
CHI is a multicultural community from highly diverse backgrounds who together investigate new and creative ways for people to interact. A shared interest in human-computer interaction and common purpose of technology that works for people and society brings all attendees together. The best place for you to meet your peers!
4. And make new friends
Is it your first time attending a CHI meeting? Make sure to visit the Newcomers Reception. Here you can easily meet other newcomers, as well as people who have been coming to CHI for years.
5. Attend workshops
Workshops are held the weekend before the start of the conference, on Saturday and Sunday, 4-5 May 2019. They are organized independently by people from academy and industry. An ideal gathering place for attendees with shared interests, and of course a great way to discuss emerging and important topics with leaders in the field.
6. Broaden your field
A conference like CHI is ideal to broaden your field, as it consists of lots of smaller HCI communities. Although it can be out of your comfortzone, you really should try to find some sessions or communities that are not within your usual working field. You never know what interesting ideas you will pick up!
7. See the latest tools for UX and HCI research
Like every year, CHI 2019 offers an exhibition where international companies showcase their latest tools and innovations. Noldus is excited to return to CHI and exhibit at the upcoming 2019 conference, from 6-9 May 2019!
