Why should I use DanioVision?
Larvae activity and movement patterns are basic measurements used
in studies on stereotypic and epileptic behaviors, circadian rhythmicity, motor control,
movement disorders, neural development, and more.
DanioVision is a complete system designed for exactly these types of experiments with zebrafish
(Danio rerio) larvae, and is often used in studies related to drug development, behavioral
genetics, toxicology and circadian rhythmicity.
Precise and reliable data collection
Say goodbye to inconsistent lighting that leads to unreliable data.
DanioVision ensures you get the most accurate data
from your experiments. It provides room for standard ANSI and SBS compliant multi-well plates (6,
12, 24, 48, or 96 well plates).
You can also use petri dishes and other small containers. With its backlit plate holder, even
lighting is guaranteed across all wells, eliminating contrast issues
that could distort your measurements.
The Observation Chamber shuts out external light, and
the anti-vibration feet absorb shocks to keep the internal environment stable.
Plus, its distortion-free optical design gives you clear, straight views into every well, so you can
trust the
accuracy of every image you capture.
Optimized for fast, high-quality imaging
DanioVision is a video tracking based system, meaning that it needs a
camera. When tracking fast-moving subjects
like zebrafish larvae, DanioVision’s high-resolution camera is your best tool. Designed to capture
rapid movements without blurring,
it ensures you record even the quickest bursts of activity in crystal-clear detail.
Observation Chamber has a Fresnel lens,
allowing for a sturdy and robust system with a perfectly straight view into each well. No more
worrying about missing important data due to poor video quality. Blurry streaks are a thing of the
past.
Seamless, long-term recording
Long-term studies? No problem. The
Observation Chamber's unique design shuts out external light, and the anti-vibration feet
absorb shocks to keep the internal environment stable.
The backlit plate holder provides even lighting across the well plate and ensures that your plate or
other container is placed in the exact same position every time.
DanioVision’s plate holder is backlit with an IR light that is not visible to zebrafish, so
it will not disturb the activity of the larvae or create bias in your data.
The DanioVision Observation Chamber also includes a white light. You can turn on the light
suddenly to induce a startle reflex, or you can adjust the white light gradually to mimic a
day/night cycle.
The white light in the Observation Chamber is programmed and controlled with EthoVision
XT: you use the software to set when you want the light turned on and off.
The white light intensity is adjustable from complete darkness to up to 10,000 lux.
Plus, with the
optional Temperature
Control Unit, you can
maintain exact environmental conditions during long studies, ensuring consistent and reliable
results.
Advanced tracking and environmental control
Unlike other systems that rely on pixel changes, DanioVision detects
the whole animal in each frame.
This means you get more precise data on movement, speed, and behavior, helping you draw the right
conclusions from your studies.
Need to study in low-light or dark conditions? DanioVision’s infrared lighting and camera system is
invisible to zebrafish, ensuring their natural
behavior isn’t affected. You’ll get accurate, unbiased data no matter the lighting
conditions.
Plus, with the
optional Temperature
Control Unit, you can
maintain exact environmental conditions during long studies, ensuring consistent and reliable
results.
All-in-one solution, trusted by experts
While DanioVision is perfect for zebrafish larvae studies, it’s also
versatile enough for other small organisms like
insects or aquatic invertebrates. Whatever you’re studying, DanioVision provides the flexibility to
track them with precision.
DanioVision and
EthoVision XT are trusted by over 2,500 labs globally, with thousands of
publications validating their use. Join a network of researchers who rely on this system for
accurate, reliable data in their most critical experiments.
How do I expand my DanioVision setup?
DanioVision has range of add-ons to further broaden your experimental options, such as a temperature control unit, tapping stimulus, toplight unit, or optogenetics add-on.
